GPRS Based Visitor Counter project is developed for the users to count the number of visitors(In and out).and to display the details in wireless manner through GPRS.

This project mainly consists of a set of IR sensors, microcontroller unit and PC.

The sensors are connected at the door(In and out). When any one enters, the sensor senses and sends signal to the microcontroller. The microcontroller sends signal to the counter. The counter calculates the number of visitors. The microcontroller sends the corresponding data to the PC through serial port. The software in the PC is developed in J2ME which sends the data to the Internet.

The administrator uses a mobile phone with GPRS technology. The user can view the details in his mobile.

This project is very useful in Institutions, shops and offices. Since microcontroller is used, the operations are very accurate. This project is very cheap and cost effective.

The microcontroller program is written in assembly language. The microcontroller used is PIC16F73
